MeroNEP is a platform designed to connect the Nepalese community in the U.S. through social interaction, business listings, and community engagement. To maintain a respectful and safe environment, all users are expected to follow these Community Guidelines when using the MeroNEP app (“App”). By using the App, you agree to comply with these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent account termination.

1. Be Respectful

MeroNEP is a platform for meaningful conversations and connections. Users are expected to engage with others respectfully and professionally at all times.

    • Treat all users with courtesy and respect, even if you disagree with their opinions.

    • Avoid personal attacks, name-calling, or any form of harassment.

    • Engage in conversations constructively and avoid inflammatory remarks.

    • Respect cultural differences and be sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of other users.

2. No Hate Speech, Harassment, or Threats

We have zero tolerance for hate speech, harassment, or threats. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Content that promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.

    • Threatening or intimidating behavior toward other users.

    • Harassment through comments, direct messages, or public posts.

    • Targeted bullying or shaming of other users.

Any content that incites violence or harm will be immediately removed, and the account may be suspended or banned.

3. Keep Content Appropriate and Legal

All content shared within the App must comply with local, state, and federal laws. Prohibited content includes:

    • Illegal or fraudulent activities.

    • Pornography, sexually explicit material, or nudity.

    • Violent or graphic content.

    • Content that promotes the sale or use of illegal substances, firearms, explosives, or dangerous products.

    • Content that facilitates or promotes human trafficking, abuse, or exploitation.

    • Copyrighted content that you do not have the legal right to share.

If you encounter illegal or harmful content, you should report it immediately using the App’s reporting feature.

4. Protect Privacy and Personal Information

Protect your privacy and respect the privacy of others.

    • Do not share your personal information (e.g., address, phone number, financial details) publicly.

    • Do not request or share sensitive information from other users.

    • Avoid disclosing private conversations or messages without consent.

    • Do not post personal details about other users without their permission.

Direct messages remain private unless a user chooses to disclose them. We encourage you to exercise caution when engaging in private communication with other users.

5. Follow Posting Guidelines

When creating or interacting with content in the App, follow these posting rules:

5.1 Forum and Threads

    • Stay on topic and keep discussions relevant to the forum category.

    • Avoid excessive self-promotion or spam.

    • Be mindful of duplicate posts and repetitive content.

    • Do not post misleading or false information.

5.2 Listings

    • Listings should accurately describe the item or service being offered.

    • Do not post counterfeit goods, illegal items, or services that are not legally permitted.

    • Clearly disclose terms of sale, including price and condition.

    • Avoid deceptive pricing or misleading product descriptions.

5.3 Events

    • Events should be relevant to the Nepalese community or of general interest to the local community.

    • Misleading or fraudulent event information will be removed.

    • Do not post events that promote illegal or dangerous activity.

6. Use Direct Messaging Responsibly

Direct messaging is intended for meaningful conversations and community building.

    • Do not send unsolicited promotional messages (spam).

    • Harassment, bullying, and threats are strictly prohibited.

    • Respect the privacy of other users.

    • If a user blocks you, you are not allowed to contact them through other means.

Users can report direct message abuse through the App’s reporting feature.

7. Respect Business Listings and Directory Rules

Business owners and organizations can create listings within the Directory. Users are expected to engage with business listings professionally and responsibly.

    • Only business owners or authorized representatives may create and manage business listings.

    • Business information should be accurate, up-to-date, and not misleading.

    • Misrepresentation of business services or false advertising is prohibited.

    • Users should not post defamatory or fraudulent reviews.

Business listings are monitored for accuracy and compliance. Misleading or fraudulent listings may be removed.

8. No Impersonation or Fraud

You may not impersonate other users, public figures, or businesses.

    • Do not create fake accounts or profiles.

    • Do not misrepresent your identity or affiliation with an organization.

    • Do not engage in scams, phishing, or fraudulent activity.

    • Do not attempt to access or use another user’s account without permission.

Impersonation and fraud are serious violations and may result in account suspension and legal action.

9. Intellectual Property

You are responsible for the content you post. Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.

    • Only post content you own or have permission to use.

    • Do not upload copyrighted material without the owner’s consent.

    • Respect trademarks and other protected content.

MeroNEP reserves the right to remove infringing content and take action against repeat offenders.

10. Spam and Misuse

We do not tolerate spam or misuse of the App’s features.

    • Do not post repetitive content or links.

    • Do not use bots or automated methods to interact with the App.

    • Excessive promotional content or solicitations are prohibited.

    • Do not manipulate engagement (e.g., artificially increasing likes or comments).

Spam and misuse may result in content removal and account suspension.

11. Reporting and Enforcement

11.1 Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines, you can report it using the App’s reporting feature. We review all reports and take appropriate action based on the severity of the violation.

11.2 Enforcement Actions

Depending on the nature of the violation, we may:

    • Remove or modify offending content.

    • Issue a warning to the user.

    • Suspend or terminate the user’s account.

    • Report illegal activity to law enforcement.

All enforcement decisions are made at the sole discretion of MeroNEP and are final.

12. Consequences of Violations

If you violate these guidelines, we may suspend or permanently terminate your account. Content that violates the guidelines will be removed without notice. Serious violations, including illegal activity, harassment, and threats, may result in legal action.

13. Appeals

If you believe your content or account was removed by mistake, you may appeal the decision by contacting our support team. Appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and decisions are final.

14. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines periodically. The “Effective Date” at the top of this document reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated guidelines.

15. Families and Child Safety

MeroNEP complies with Google Play’s Families Policy and child safety standards. To ensure a safe and trusted environment for all users, including children and families, the following apply:

    • The App does not contain sexually explicit content, violence, or materials inappropriate for children.

    • No user-generated content that exploits or endangers children is allowed. This includes grooming, abuse, trafficking, or harmful interactions.

    • Targeted advertising or data collection practices directed at children are strictly prohibited.

    • All business listings, events, and forum content must be suitable for a general audience unless explicitly categorized for adults. In such cases, content must still comply with Google Play’s restricted content policies.

    • Users may not post, share, or encourage downloads of apps, links, or services that violate Google Play’s Families or Child Safety policies.

    • Any violation involving child safety will result in immediate account suspension and may be reported to law enforcement.

MeroNEP is committed to protecting children and families, and the App will continue to follow all Google Play requirements to remain safe, compliant, and accessible to users of all ages.
